Our Beliefs
At Lawtonville Baptist, our beliefs are rooted in the teachings of the Bible.

We believe in a loving, personal God who desires a relationship with each of us through His Son, Jesus Christ. Here is a summary of our core beliefs:

The Bible

We believe the Bible is the inspired, inerrant Word of God. It is our ultimate authority for all matters of faith and practice. Through Scripture, God reveals His plan of salvation and His will for our lives.

"All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness." — 2 Timothy 3:16

God

We believe in one God, eternally existing in three persons: the Father, the Son (Jesus Christ), and the Holy Spirit. God is sovereign, holy, and full of love, mercy, and grace.

Jesus Christ

We believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, fully divine and fully human. He lived a sinless life, died on the cross to atone for our sins, and rose from the dead on the third day. Through His sacrifice, we are offered forgiveness and eternal life.

"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life." — John 3:16

The Holy Spirit

We believe the Holy Spirit dwells within every believer, guiding, comforting, and empowering us to live godly lives. The Spirit convicts the world of sin and righteousness and gifts every believer for ministry.

Salvation

We believe that salvation is a gift from God, received by grace through faith in Jesus Christ. It is not something we can earn by our own efforts. Through repentance and faith, we are made new creations and are given the promise of eternal life with God.

"For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God." — Ephesians 2:8-9

The Church

We believe the church is the body of Christ on earth, made up of all believers who confess Jesus as Lord. The local church is a community where we worship together, grow in our faith, and serve God and others. We practice two ordinances: baptism by immersion and the Lord’s Supper.

Baptism and the Lord’s Supper

  • Baptism: We believe in baptism by immersion as a public declaration of faith in Jesus Christ. It symbolizes the believer’s identification with His death, burial, and resurrection.
  • The Lord’s Supper: We partake in the Lord’s Supper to remember and honor the sacrifice of Jesus. It is a time of reflection, thanksgiving, and fellowship with other believers.

The Great Commission

We believe that Jesus has called us to go and make disciples of all nations, sharing the Gospel and teaching others to follow Him. This is the mission of our church and the heartbeat of everything we do.

"Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit." — Matthew 28:19

Eternity

We believe in the promise of eternal life with God for all who trust in Jesus Christ as their Savior. We also believe in the reality of eternal separation from God for those who reject Him. Our hope is in the resurrection and the eternal kingdom of God.
